The Jewish Human
Rights Network
Bringing Jewish people together to speak out for Human Rights
Round Table Discussion
Tuesday 25th March 2008 - 7:30pm - Holborn
Human Trafficking
The Jewish Human Rights Network has continued to stage an exclusive series of intimate round table talks,
featuring a wide range of experts in human rights discussing topical issues. In the second of these talks
members of the JHRN had an opportunity to discuss this important issue with Helen Bamber OBE who has
particular expert knowledge of this concerning situation. It proved to be a moving and thought provoking evening.

At least 4000 women and girls
are trafficked into the UK each year and sold into prostitution.
Helen Bamber OBE spoke to an audience of Jewish Human
Rights Network members
about the problem of human trafficking and what role the Jewish community
can play in bringing an end to this form of slavery.

Helen Bamber was born to
Jewish parents of Polish descent. Her career in human rights began aged 19
when she volunteered to work with survivors in Belsen. She established
the Medical Foundation for the Care
of Victims of Torture in 1985.
In 1997, she received the OBE. She has since established the Helen
Bamber Foundation, which works with
survivors of genocide, torture,
trafficking and rape, providing them with practical support and treatment
to
deal with their past and build new futures.
