Zimbabwe - Our Response
The Jewish Human Rights Network is staging an exclusive series of intimate round table talks,
featuring a wide range of experts in human rights discussing topical issues.
The first talk in the series examined the appalling human rights abuses in Zimbabwe,
where the government is alleged to violate rights to shelter, food, freedom of movement
and residence, freedom of assembly and protection of the law.
Georgina Godwin spoke movingly about her experience growing up on Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. Her personal
perspective brought the issues being faced on the ground today to life.
Peter Tatchell spoke frankly about the prospects and methods for achieving policitcal change in Zimbabwe
and emphasised the need to raise awareness in the UK of the latest developments in the crisis there
whilst offering material support to development projects in the country.
The talk was sold out, and was greatly enjoyed by all with many questions and lively discussion.
The next round table discussion will focus on human trafficking. Details will be posted on this site shortly.
Speakers
Peter Tatchell, a prominent gay rights activist, attempted to perform

holocaust
survivor and an activist who was forced to leave
Zimbabwe after expressing
anti-Mugabe sentiments on her radio show on the
