Jewish Human Rights Network
Bringing Jewish people together to speak out for Human Rights
About the Network
CCJO.RenéCassin is an organisation dedicated to using the experience of Jewish people to promote the human rights of all people.
Through our work, we have met a number of Jewish individuals and organisations, all of whom are committed in some way to promoting human rights, whether via charity appeals, development work, collaboration with other minority communities, or combating racism and anti-Semitism.
In our conversations with these individuals and organisations, it became apparent that no vehicle currently exists through which Jews who are committed to universal human rights can collaborate. It was this realisation that convinced us that we should create and host such a vehicle.
The Jewish Human Rights Network will enable its members to share policy papers, coordinate large campaigns, publicise events to a wider audience, discuss human rights issues from a Jewish perspective and work together to mobilise the Jewish community on human rights issues.
In doing so, the Network will serve both to strengthen the Jewish voice in human rights and to raise the profile of human rights within the Jewish community.
The network will not create policy in its own right, but will simply allow its members to co-ordinate human rights campaigns with others within the network who share their concerns on any particular issue. It will be quite possible for different groups of members of the JHRN to have opposing views on any given topic!
The network will function through:
An
egroup - for exchanging messages about
upcoming projects
Regular meetings where network members can
meet and discuss issues in common
Network events - held by members on the
subject of human rights
Contact with other individuals and organisations of other faiths and none
The network will be open to any organisation or individual who signs the Declaration on Judasim and Human Rights, and who is prepared to abide by the rules of the network.
It is possible to sign the Declaration without becoming a member of the Network if you wish.
